4 Ways to Prepare For the Spring Home Buying Season
The Spring Home Buying Season is just around the corner. Are you ready? As the temperature increases, so does the number of houses up for sale. The real estate market stiffens up and houses typically don’t stay on the market for very long. Whether you are buying your first home, trading up, or downsizing, you will want to enter this busy season prepared. Here are four ways that you can get ready for the Spring Home Buying Season.
1. get pre-approved
Getting pre-approved should be the first step before entering the busy real estate season. This will help you understand your limits in terms of how much you can spend on your new house. With a pre-approval you won’t have to worry about falling in love with a house and realizing after that you can’t afford it. Having a pre-approval in place will also show sellers that you are serious about buying. Luckily, getting pre-approved is easy and can be done quickly with my online questionnaire.
2. Find a Realtor
Another important step for entering the Spring Home Buying Season prepared is finding a great realtor to work with. Choose someone who knows the neighbourhoods you’re interested in and can guide you in finding the perfect home. In this busy season, there will be many other home buyers actively in the market and you will need someone who can act quickly and stay up to date on new homes hitting the market. It is also likely that you will be working with this person a lot, so choose someone you can get along with easily. If you don’t know where to begin; don’t worry, I can connect you with some great real estate agents.
3. Start Shopping
Start shopping early and get familiar with your needs and wants for your new house. Know ahead of time how many bedrooms and bathrooms you want, the yard size, and other amenities that you consider a “must have”. This way you won’t have to tour every house that hits the market, but only the ones that meet your needs. You can also check out neighbourhoods and figure out what location would be ideal for you. The more you know ahead of time, the easier it will be to find your dream home quickly in the busy Spring Season.
4. Have Your Documents Ready
To make things go smoothly and to increase your chances of securing your new home, have all of your paperwork ready to go ahead of time. I will let you know exactly what those documents are, but you should be prepared to have tax statements, proof of employment, and identification.
